Bruno Caruso
Italian 1927 – 2018
Born in Palermo, Bruno Caruso completed classic studies and a university degree in law. As a youth, he showed an interest in the architectural and hydraulic designs of his engineer father, under whose guidance he began to draw through copying masters like Pisanello, Mantegna, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Traveling in Europe after World War II, he showed his political and social leanings in a collection of sketches exploring the Holocaust and fascism. In Sicily, he followed the farmers' movement and the battle against the Mafia and promoted cultural initiatives in graphics and publishing.
